Logistics Analyst

The Logistics Analyst organizes, coordinates and consolidates domestic and international transportation and third party warehousing to support shipments. The incumbent analyzes shipment options and routes to ensure the lowest costs, developing a logistics plan that will ensure quality, efficiencies and on-time delivery.  The Logistics Analyst acts as a liaison between the Purchasing Department, Stockholders, and vendors.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and coordinates all aspects pertaining to domestic and international transportation needs with the carrier and Stockholder.
  • Works closely with Buyers and Traders to understand delivery requirements.
  • Analyzes Stockholder and/or vendor delivery requirements to ensure the most efficient transportation methods are used, balancing quality, price and efficiency.
  • Identifies, selects and procures transportation while contributing to the organization’s corporate objective of maximizing profitability.
  • Maintains current knowledge of inventory and coordinates transportation to meet Stockholder specifications.
  • Serves as liaison between the Purchasing Department, Stockholders and transportation vendors to ensure delivery aligns with expectations.
  • Interprets laws, rules and regulations regarding shipping and prepares applications for import/export control certifications and licenses. 
  • Maintains logs and compiles information on routes, rates and services on various vendors. 
  • Owns the trucking lanes for various building product movements including carrier selection, and rate negotiations.
  • Develops methods for locating additional trucking capacity for new, or under-utilized lanes.
  • Verifies for accuracy and processes rail freights, freight bills, bills of lading, etc. for assigned programs, resolve problems with carrier.
  • Identifies and resolves logistic problems, involving affected parties as needed.
  • Creates logistic plans and procedures for distribution and inventory management to maximize Stockholder satisfaction and minimize cost.
  • Researches transportation methods and audits carrier cost and performance.
  • Makes recommendations to improve productivity, quality and efficiency of operations
  • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.



  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, marketing or equivalent experience required.
  • 1-2 years related experience in logistics, transportation, trucking, rail or warehouse.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Basic knowledge of logistics planning and analysis.

  • Ability to communicate well with internal and external contacts, both in writing and verbally. 

  • Working knowledge of computer programs including Excel, Word and general processing systems used by LMC and customer/dealers.

  • Good problem solving and analytical skills.
